Pam Bondi Pledges to Continue McCollum's Efforts on Gangs
Taking a page from current Attorney General Bill McCollum, who has made combating gangs in Florida one of the chief marks of his tenure, Republican AG candidate Pam Bondi focused on fighting gangs on Monday morning.
Our attorney general must defend the rights of law-abiding citizens to keep our families, seniors, elderly and children safe from crime and criminals, and as a career prosecutor I have the courtroom-tested experience to ensure that your public safety is top priority, said Bondi who faces Sen. Dan Gelber, D-Miami Beach, in November. I have personally handled many gang-related cases in my career and know firsthand how deadly and terrifying gangs can be to our community.
Gangs are a very real and growing danger in our state, and I will work to build upon Attorney General McCollums work fighting gangs to bring better communication and intelligence information to law enforcement, added Bondi. I will also be a constant advocate for community coordination on this issue. We must also reach out to our students, educators, and schools to bring awareness to the issue and to work to prevent our children from wanting to join gangs. Education is a key component to prevention.
Look for Bondi to push more issues like this that allow her to contrast her experience as an assistant state attorney based in Tampa with Gelbers years in the Legislature.
