Once Again, Herman Cain, Adam Hasner Win Tea Party Fort Lauderdale Poll

A tea party straw poll in South Florida shows GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain widening his lead.

The Georgia businessman won 53 percent of the 331 ballots cast in the Tea Party Fort Lauderdale poll conducted Oct. 13-21.

Newt Gingrich was a distant second with 13.5 percent and Mitt Romney placed third with 9.5 percent.

Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry were tied at 6.5 percent and Rick Santorum garnered 5 percent. Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman scored less than 5 percent.

The bad news for Paul was compounded by his first-place showing in category: Who you would least like to receive the Republican nomination to run against Barack Obama.

Cain won the TPFL straw poll in May with 18.5 percent.

In the Republican contest for U.S. Senate, former state Rep. Adam Hasner held a 44-21 lead over retired Army Col. Mike McCalister.

Former Sen. George LeMieux finished third with 17.5 percent. Fourteen percent of the 278 straw balloters were undecided.

Hasner also won TPFL's May straw poll.
