OFA Holding Events for State of the Union as Obama Gears Up for 2012
President Barack Obama is gearing up for re-election in 2012, setting up a campaign headquarters in Chicago and staffing it. Organizing for America (OFA), a group which helped propel Obama to the Democratic nomination and the White House back in 2008, is also ramping up again and will be holding events across the Sunshine State on Tuesday night when Obama delivers the State of the Union address. They will be holding watch parties in Dania Beach, Gainesville, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Orlando, Pembroke Pines, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Tallahassee and Tampa on Tuesday night.
Some presidents seem to get blindsided when they seek re-election and start their bids for second terms way too late in the process -- George. H. W. Bushs bid for another term in 1992 being the perfect example. Its pretty clear that the Obama team is trying to avoid that particular pitfall.
