Obama Fried For Genetically Engineered Sellout to Big Agriculture
Leftists boiling over President Barack Obama's supposed tack to the center have one more reason to be upset: genetically engineered alfalfa.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture lifted all restrictions on the genetically engineered crop, effectively allowing anyone to plant GE alfalfa anywhere, without any restriction.
NaturalNews.com calls the move a "surrender to Monsanto [that] signifies the beginning of a new era of widespread genetic pollution of North America's crops and ranch animals (which eat those crops)."
Genetically engineered crops have been a long-standing concern of left-leaning environmentalists, who decry Big Agriculture. But conservatives and garden-variety farmers also have issues with genetic tinkering.
Opponents, including the Ecology Party of Florida, predict that "DNA pollution" of nongenetically modified alfalfa is a certainty under the new rules. They say that cross-contamination will, in effect, sow a corporate monopoly.
NaturalNews last week reported that the USDA is engaged in the "deliberate murder of tens of millions of birds, cougars, beavers, foxes, ducks and other animals as part of its taxpayer-funded 'Bye Bye Blackbird' program." The report said the program uses chemicals to exterminate birds to "protect the financial interests of conventional agriculture giants."
