Now 'Florida Has a Right to Know' State University Salaries
Gov. Rick Scott, who has been pushing to revamp educational priorities at Florida's universities, has included the salariesof stateuniversity employees on his Florida Has a Right to Know webpage.
The site, established to provide transparency for taxpayers, has been up since March.
The latest list added to the site provides a spreadsheet of the current years pay at Floridas 11 state universities: Florida A&M University, Florida Atlantic University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida International University, Florida State University, New College of Florida, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, University of North Florida, University of South Florida, University of West Florida.
The list, which includes more than 52,000 salaries, ranges from a $231,750 a year salary posted for Florida State University Head Football Coach Jimbo Fischer, to state Sen. President Mike Haridopolos $75,000 a year pay as a lecturer at the University of Florida, down to the $20,810 of a Florida Atlantic University custodial worker.
The money reflects only state tax dollar allocations. Thus Fischers reported $1.8 million a year deal isnt fully listed, just the base of the five-year package.
The list also doesn't reflect UF head football coach Will Muschamps $2.75 million a year deal.
The release comes as Scott seeks to make science and math programs more prominent than liberal arts, require tougher reviews for professors, and has called into question offering tenure for university professors.
