Newt Gingrich Calls Palestinians an 'Invented' People; How About Americans?

Shamelessly pandering for the Zionist vote, Newt Gingrich on Friday declared that Palestinians are an "invented" people.

In an interview with the Jewish Channel, the GOP presidential contender said, "Remember, there was no Palestine as a state. It was part of the Ottoman Empire" until the early 20th century.

"I think that we've had an invented Palestinian people who are in fact Arabs, and who were historically part of the Arab community. And they had a chance to go many places, and for a variety of political reasons we have sustained this war against Israel now since the 1940s, and it's tragic," he said.

The former House speaker did not mention that the modern state of Israel was "invented" by post-World War II Western powers -- a political creation that has precipitated an unending dispute with indigenous Palestinians.

Come to think of it, Newt, if Palestinians are "invented," what are Americans?
