Newt Gingrich Backs Dennis Ross for Congress
Former Rep. Dennis Ross, the Republican candidate to take U.S. Rep. Adam Putnams seat in Congress, announced on Friday that he won the endorsement of one of the most prominent Republican leaders of the last two decades and a possible presidential candidate in 2012 -- former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Dennis Ross is the only candidate in District 12 who knows what it is like to meet a private-sector payroll, provide health insurance for employees, and deal with the crushing burden of government on America's entrepreneurs, said Gingrich. Now, more than ever, Congress needs leaders who have lived in the real world where you can't print more money or borrow your way to prosperity.Congress also needs leaders, like Dennis, that have acted on our shared principles, and not simply talked about them.
I encourage voters of District 12 of all parties who believe in innovative and 21st century solutions to our nation's problems to join me in supporting Dennis Ross for Congress, added Gingrich.
With Putnam running for commissioner of agriculture and consumer services, come November Ross will face Polk County Elections Supervisor Lori Edwards who has the Democratic nomination and Polk County Commissioner Randy Wilkinson who is running as the TEA Party candidate.
