New Poll has Alex Sink Ahead of Rick Scott
Yet another new poll in the close gubernatorial battle with Public Policy Polling (PPP), which has connections to Democratic campaigns, showing state CFO Alex Sink, the Democratic nominee, ahead of Republican rival Rick Scott -- 46 percent to 41 percent.
Alex Sink remains in strong shape to take the Florida governors mansion, insisted Dean Debnam, the president of PPP. This would be one of the brightest spots for Democrats across the country and what is likely to be an otherwise dreary election night.
Factoring in a divisive Republican primary with Attorney General Bill McCollum which weakened Scott, Sinks attacks are taking their toll on the Republican candidate. While Scott was viewed in favorable terms by 33 percent of those surveyed, he was seen as unfavorable by 52 percent. Sink was seen more favorably, but just barely: 44 percent to 38 percent unfavorable.
Still, PPP has shown Sink doing well before--with a 7 point lead back in August when independent candidate Bud Chiles was included.
The poll of 448 likely voters, which was taken on Oct. 9 and 10, had a margin of error of +/- 4.6 percent.
This poll shows that Alex Sinks support is eroding as voters learn more about her giving criminals waivers to sell insurance and support of Obamas failed economic policies," said Joe Kildea, a spokesman for Scott.
