New CNN/Time Poll has Rubio Crushing the Field and Sink and Scott in a Close Battle
Yet another poll shows Republican candidate Marco Rubio leading the U.S. Senate race in Florida. A CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corp. poll of likely voters released on Wednesday had Rubio out in front with 42 percent. Gov. Charlie Crist, who is running without party affiliation, placed second with 31 percent while Democratic nominee U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek was in third with 23 percent.
According to the poll, 42 percent of likely voters in the Sunshine State now support Rubio, the former Florida House speaker. Thirty-one percent are backing Gov. Charlie Crist, who earlier this year dropped his bid for the GOP nomination and announced he would run for the Senate as an independent candidate. When the polls shifts to registered voters, Rubio takes 38 percent, Crist pulls 31 percent and Meek remains in third with 25 percent
The poll also found Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott ahead of Democratic rival state CFO Alex Sink by a whisker -- 47 percent to 45 percent. When the poll is of registered voters, Sink edges Scott by the skin of her teeth -- 46 percent to his 45 percent.
The poll of 1,352 registered voters and 786 likely voters was taken between Sept. 24-28.
The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 2.5 percentage points for registered voters and plus or minus 3.5 percentage points for likely voters.
