Nancy Pelosi Goes to Bat for Kendrick Meek in Recorded Phone Call

The Democratic establishment is starting to come out in force for U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meeks bid for the U.S. Senate. U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recorded a message for Meek --who is trying to beat Jeff Greene in a bitter contest for the Democratic nomination in the Senate race --that will be called into hundreds of thousands of Florida homes.

"I'm calling to ask you to vote for Kendrick Meek for U.S. Senate and to set the record straight, said Pelosi in the call. Kendrick has an outstanding leadership record on children's health care. Kendrick voted three times for children's health insurance. He worked to make sure we got it passed to fund Florida KidCare. To say anything else is not true."

"I'm humbled to have Speaker Pelosi support my campaign in this way, said Meek. For years, Speaker Pelosi and I have stood together fighting for Florida's children. Her testimonial only further proves that there is just one real Democrat in this race and only one candidate who will fight for middle-class Florida families.
