Nan Rich Denied Weekend Admittance to Capitol

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement denied former Sen. Nan Rich's request to be admitted to the Capitol on Saturday. The Democratic gubernatorial candidate was shut out because "the Capitol is closed at 5 p.m. Friday and the public is not allowed to enter the (building) until it opens for business on Monday at 8 a.m.," FDLE spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger wrote in a press statement.

The Dream Defenders organization continued to demonstrate overnight with 86 participants. FDLE said a bus arrived from Philadelphia with protesters just before 4 p.m. Thursday.

So far, of the total $148,942.97 cost for Capitol security since the protest started, the law enforcement agency said $50,655 was for overtime incurred by the Stand Your Ground protest.
