A photo of former Sen. Nan Rich at the Florida Capitol in Tallahassee surfaced on Saturday, showing that the Democratic gubernatorial candidate was indeed inside the Capitol despite being denied admittance by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on Friday. The Democratic gubernatorial candidate was initially shut out because "the Capitol is closed at 5 p.m. Friday and the public is not allowed to enter the (building) until it opens for business on Monday at 8 a.m.," FDLE spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger wrote in a press statement.
The photo of Rich was posted on the Dream Defenders'Facebook page Saturday afternoon.
"As far as I'm concerned, race relations in this country are still on trial," Rich told protesters.
The state reported that 105 protesters spent the night at the Capitol on Friday, the largest number since the protest began on July 15.The Dream Defenders organization is pledging to remain in the Capitol until Gov. Rick Scott calls a special session to discuss the controversial Stand Your Ground laws in Florida.
Protesters have gathered from all over the Sunshine State and even across the country -- FDLE said a bus arrived from Philadelphia with protesters just before 4 p.m. Thursday.
