Monique Miller Makes Ballot by Petition in House Race in Brevard County
Running to replace term-limited state Rep. Ritch Workman, R-Melbourne, businesswoman Monique Miller, who offered a conservative challenge to a state Senate incumbent in 2014, announced this week she made the ballot via petition.
“There is nothing I enjoy more than getting to know my neighbors in District 52 by visiting them in their homes,” Miller said. “It gives us a chance to get to know each other, and I have the opportunity to earn and ask for their vote.
“The voters have made two things clear," Miller added. “One: they want a successful businessperson who has a long history in Brevard County to represent them in Tallahassee. Two: they are tired of career politicians and candidates that are backed by special interest money. This is clearly the year of the outsiders.
“My campaign has been raising money from everyday Floridians at a steady methodical level,” Miller said in conclusion. “I am proud to have the support of people that are just like me – hardworking men and women that are hungry for the restoration of our state and our country. They are looking for the old-fashioned public servant – someone that will fight for their needs in Florida’s capital.”
Miller faces a potentially crowded Republican primary field including state Sen. Thad Altman who she challenged in 2014 and is now looking to stay in the Legislature by winning a House seat. Brian Hodgers and Robert Van Volkenburgh are also running for the Republican nod.
