Money From Friends of GOP Gushes in to Knock Off Alan Grayson, Suzanne Kosmas
Big as this nation is, the bullseye for friends of the national GOP is none other than Central Florida. It's right here in the Orlando media market where two Democrat-held congressional seats hang in the balance.
And, boy, are those friends ever prepared to lay out the big bucks. According to Politico, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and 60 Plus alone are ready to fork out $1.7 million in the next week to deliver what they hope will be a killing blow to Alan Grayson (8th District) and Suzanne Kosmas (24th District).
Cash was short for the Republican challengers who had to fight tough, competitive primaries. The timing couldn't be better for the Chamber and 60 Plus to ride in, bringing with them the money cavalry.
Politico quotes Jason Roe, the Republican strategist working for both Dan Webster and Sandy Adams, Grayson's and Kosmas' opponents: "I know there are a lot of attractive seats out there, but these are two particularly attractive seats. It's an attractive situation for the NRCC and outside groups because it's one media market."
Other incumbents on the GOP friends' radar:
- Kathy Dahlkemper of Pennsylvania
- Phil Hare of Illinois
- Carol Shea-Porter of New Hampshire
- Frank Kratovil of Maryland
