Mitt Romney's Team Fires Away at Rick Santorum
After winning primaries in Arizona and Missouri last month, Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney tried to focus his fire on President Barack Obama. But with Rick Santorum winning three contests on Super Tuesday and almost winning the key state of Ohio, Romneys team is now firing away at that GOP rival as the race shifts to Kansas, Alabama and Mississippi.
Romneys team came out swinging at Santorum on Thurday, attacking him for his record in Congress.
Senator Santorums claims to be a Washington outsider are at odds with the facts, said Andrea Saul, a spokeswoman for Romney. After serving as a lobbyist in Pennsylvania before running for Congress, Santorum became a go-to guy for D.C. lobbyists while he served in the Senate. If conservatives are looking for an outsider who will shake things up in Washington, Rick Santorums long record of taking one for the team should give them pause.
