Mitt Romney Unveils Support of Top Louisiana Republicans in Bid to Win Saturday's Primary

After his win in Illinois on Tuesday, Mitt Romney is looking to take Louisiana, which holds its primary on Saturday, from Rick Santorum and effectively seal up the Republican presidential race.

The Romney team is going all out to win the Pelican State and is bringing out some of Louisianas top Republicans. U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-La., made the case on Wednesday for Romney.

By lowering taxes and reducing burdensome regulations, Louisiana small businesses will flourish and our energy sector will help us become less reliant on foreign oil, said Alexander. I support Governor Romney because our country cant afford four more years of President Obama and his failed policies, and we need Governor Romney to turn things around. I urge all Louisianans who want a conservative businessman and proven leader in the White House to support Mitt Romney on Saturday.

Romney also unveiled the support of 13 Louisiana Republicans, including eight state legislators, on Wednesday.

Santorum is leading the polls in Louisiana -- but a win there would be huge for Romney. Romney has garnered little success in the South, with Santorum winning Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi, and Newt Gingrich taking South Carolina and Georgia.
