Mitt Romney Unveils Miami-Dade Endorsements

With almost every poll showing he is in a tight battle with Newt Gingrich to win the Florida primary on Tuesday, Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney unveiled the support of a large number of Miami-Dade leaders on Wednesday.

I am proud to have the support of these respected leaders, Romney said in a statement. Like me, these leaders believe that our president has failed to lead, and stand ready to join our effort to restore prosperity to America, so the hard-working people and families in every corner of our nation can find jobs and move forward.

Mitt Romney is a committed conservative who believes in the American Dream, and we believe in him, said Mayor Carlos Hernandez of Hialeah. Governor Romney is principled, hard-working and honest, and he has the real-world experience necessary to bring our country out of economic recession. We are proud to endorse him and support his candidacy.

Romney has the backing of some of the Miami-Dade delegation in the Legislature: state Sen. Anitere Flores, R-Miami; Rep. Jose Felix Diaz, R-Miami; Rep. Eddy Gonzalez, R-Hialeah Gardens; Rep. Ana Rivas Logan, R-Miami; Rep. Jeanette Nunez, R-Miami; and Rep. Jose Oliva, R-Hialeah.

Other Romney backers in Miami-Dade include five mayors: Jose Bermudez of Doral, Yioset de la Cruz of Hialeah Gardens, Zavier Garcia of Miami Springs, Hernandez of Hialeah, and Michael Pizzi of Miami Lakes. A host of city councilmen, county commissioners and other Miami-Dade officeholders are also backing Romney.
