Mitt Romney Takes Aim at Obama After New Hampshire Win
Having won the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday night, Republican presidential hopeful former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts called out President Barack Obama.
Romney took to the stage in Manchester to address supporters right after the networks declared him the winner.
Tonight, we made history, Romney, who finished second in the Granite State in 2008 behind John McCain, told a cheering crowd.
Romney took aim at Obama, hammering the Democratic incumbents record on the economy and attacking his failed leadership.
Romney made a pitch to South Carolina voters, asking them to back his campaign and reject Obama and his Republican rivals. He also attempted to contrast himself with Obama, insisting the president is inspired by European-style socialism and supports big government, while Romney insisted he backed American exceptionalism and the free market.
The president has run out of ideas, said Romney. Now he is running out of excuses.
Strong words -- and a sign that Romney is starting to look beyond his Republican rivals who await him in South Carolina and Florida. Romney leads in the polls in both states and is the first nonincumbent Republican presidential candidate to win Iowa and New Hampshire.
