Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann Set for Faith and Freedom Rally
Mitt Romney, Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann can agree on at least one thing: attending the Faith and Freedom Coalition's Kickoff Rally at Florida's Presidency 5 summit in Orlando.
Romney and Perry on Wednesday followed Bachmann's lead in committing to appear at the rally, which will be held from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Rosen Centre. The meet-and-greet event is free and open to the public.
Bachmann, whose socially conservative views dovetail with the Ralph Reed-founded coalition, figures to be right at home with the evangelical crowd, while Romney, a Mormon, still raises theological eyebrows.
Perry is a bit of an unknown quantity. While publicly professing his Christian faith at numerous prayer vigils, the governor's states'-rights stand on gay marriage and his executive order mandating HPV vaccinations for Texas schoolgirls (a position he has since abandoned) have provoked concerns.
More candidates are expected to RSVP for the event, which precedes that evening's Fox News presidential debate at the Orange County Convention Center.
