Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich Clash; Michele Bachmann Says It's All for Show

Mitt Romney criticized Newt Gingrich on Saturday for proposing to eliminate child labor laws and end capital gains for high-income earners.

During a televised GOP presidential debate, Romney also skewered Gingrich's lack of experience in the private sector.

Gingrich riposted: "The only reason you didn't become a career politician is that you lost to Teddy Kennedy in 1984."

Gingrich received applause at the ABC News debate for his proposal to put poor students to work cleaning schools.

But in one of the more memorable lines of the night, Michele Bachmann said the supposed differences between Romney and Gingrich were merely cosmetic.

The Minnesota congresswoman, who calls herself the only "consistent conservative" in the contest, repeatedly referred to the two front-runners as "NewtRomney" for their virtually identical positions on an individual mandate for health care and squishy stands on illegal immigration
