Mitt Romney Leads in ARG Poll of Florida

A poll unveiled on Monday from American Research Group finds that former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts is leading the pack of Republican presidential hopefuls in Florida.

The poll of likely primary voters finds Romney leading with 42 percent followed by former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich with 25 percent. Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania edges U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas for third, taking 9 percent, while the Lone Star State congressman is right behind him with 8 percent. Former Gov. Jon Huntsman of Utah, who announced on Monday morning that he was pulling out of the race and backing Romney, takes fifth with 5 percent and Gov. Rick Perry of Texas lags behind with 3 percent. One percent of those surveyed support other candidates while 8 percent remain undecided.

The poll of 600 likely primary voters was taken from Jan. 13-15 and had a margin of error of +/- 4 percent.
