Mitt Romney Gets the Backing of 24 Florida Legislators

On Tuesday, former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts announced that 24 Republicans in the Florida Legislature endorsed his presidential candidacy.

I am thrilled to have earned the support of so many respected legislators in Florida, Romney said in a statement released Tuesday. They are champions for the taxpayer, fighting for the middle class that has been hit so hard by President Obamas failed economic policies. Their hard work in Tallahassee will help put many Floridians back to work. Im excited to work with them to bring my message of reduced spending and fiscal restraint to Washington.

Two Republicans in the state Senate -- Nancy Detert of Venice and Garrett Richter of Naples -- endorsed Romney on Tuesday. So did 22 members of the Florida House. These endorsements come a day after Romney named his political team in Florida.
