Mitt Romney Carries Home State of Massachusetts

Since backing favorite son Calvin Coolidge over John W. Davis in 1924, Massachusetts has gone Republican only four times in presidential elections -- as Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan both carried the state twice.
While, like Coolidge, Mitt Romney served as governor of the Bay State, polls show that he is trailing Democrat incumbent President Barack Obama badly there in a general election match-up. Still, Romney won the Massachusetts Republican primary on Super Tuesday and should carry most of the states 41 delegates. The networks called the state for Romney seconds after the polls closed at 8 pm.
