Mitt Romney Beats Ron Paul in the Virginia Primary

Mitt Romney made it look easy in Virginia. Networks called the Old Dominion for Romney 20 minutes after the polls closed. But Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum were not on the ballot, leaving only Ron Paul to stand against Romney. Romney carried the state and will win most of the 49 delegates at stake in Virginia.

Republicans are looking at taking back Virginia -- and its 13 electoral votes -- from Barack Obama who carried the Old Dominion in 2008. One of Romneys chief supporters is Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell -- and he is a leading vice presidential possibility. And why not? It was a good career move for the only two Virginians to ever have the vice presidency. Their names were Thomas Jefferson and John Tyler.
