
Mitt Romney and Ron Paul Do Best Against Obama in New Poll
Rasmussen Reports unveiled a host of polls on Friday pitting President Barack Obama against his potential Republican opponents, and the two GOP hopefuls who did the best were former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts and U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas. Romney beat Obama 43 percent to 42 percent. The president beat Paul by 4 points, 41 percent to 37 percent.
Obama led Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani by 5 points. The president led New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann by 7 points. Obama led former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin by 9 points. Former Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota was 12 points behind the president while former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum trailed by 14 points. Obama beat former Gov. Jon Huntsman of Utah by 16 points. The president did best against two Georgia Republicans, beating former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich by 18 points and crushing businessman Herman Cain by 21 points.
