Mitt Romney Adds to Team in Arizona and Georgia
With Arizona moving its primary up to Feb. 28, former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts is clearly keeping his eye on the Grand Canyon State. On Monday, U.S. Rep. Jeff Flake, who is running for the U.S. Senate in Arizona, announced that he was backing Romney.
I am proud to announce Congressman Flakes support, said Romney in a statement. Having such a strong advocate for the taxpayer on my Arizona team will be crucial as I reach out to voters across the state and spread my pro-growth message.
This election will be an important moment in our nations history, said Flake. The next president will be charged with reversing the failed policies of the last three years and making sure the future is as bright for our children as it was for the generations before them. Mitt Romney has the experience and vision to get our country on the right path again. Whether it was his time as governor or as a successful businessman, Mitt Romney has shown that he has the economic knowledge to create the environment for businesses to start hiring again.
Romney also looked to make a play in Georgia, despite two other candidates for the Republican nomination -- businessman Herman Cain and former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich -- coming from the Peach State. On Monday, Romney announced that state Attorney General Sam Olens and more than 20 other Republican leaders in Georgia were backing his campaign.
