Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty to Hit Florida Next Week

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a possible 2012 Republican presidential hopeful, will address Florida legislators Wednesday in Tallahassee.

His visit is to be the first of many for 2012 Republican presidential candidates, as Senate President Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, has invited all prospective GOP candidates to address the Florida Legislature.

Haridopolos said Thursday that Florida will be essential to the presidential race in 2012, and is not in favor of moving back the presidential preference primary date from late January. Gov. Scott said Thursday he supports an early primary date as long as it doesn't cost the state delegates with the Republican National Party.
