Mike La Rosa Slams Obama's Iran Deal
State Rep. Mike La Rosa, R-St. Cloud, came out swinging at President Barack Obama’s deal with Iran over its nuclear program on Monday. La Rosa has opened the door to running for the congressional seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla.
“This deal was an end around the U.S. Constitution,” La Rosa said. “President Obama knew he would never be able to get this passed in Congress, so he went to the United Nations Security Council first in a deliberate manner. After examining the record, I would have to say this deal could end up being one of the worst foreign policy moves in American history.
“Iran was at the point of financial bankruptcy and with the price of oil low and sanctions in place we should have negotiated from a position of strength,” La Rosa added. “I would also add, we should have demanded that Iran release current U.S. hostages being held there. Instead, President Obama will go down in history as the enabler of the Iranian nuclear weapons program. Also, there is no real verification system in place to keep the Iranians from their journey toward gaining a viable nuclear weapon. Instead, we are to rely on self inspection of Iran’s most sensitive nuclear facility. Worse yet, the new agreement calls on Western nations to assist Iran if in fact they suffer a cyber-attack upon their nuclear program. This is utter madness, the idea that we are too assist an avowed enemy.”
