Mike Huckabee Reaffirms Pro-Life Positions

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who moved to Florida last year, reaffirmed his commitment to life on Monday as speculation continues to grow that he will take another shot at the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.

I am pro-life, noted Huckabee. And for those of us who are, there is a basic fundamental principle that we believe in: Life begins at conception. We, as human beings, have a responsibility to protect all human life -- it's the very foundation of our civilization. As much as anything in our society, how we treat and even how we view another human life defines us as a people.

Pro-life Americans know that we must do everything possible to protect the sanctity of life, because that belief is what makes us a unique nation. We value the life of one as if it is the life of all, added Huckabee. At the core of our society is the sanctity of human life. It is rooted in who we are as a culture and as a civilization. If we turn our back on this fundamental truth, we have turned our back on the very essence and foundation of who we are as a people.
