Mike Huckabee, Now in Florida, Takes Aim at Obama on Oil Spill
New Florida resident and former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is coming out swinging at President Barack Obama for his handling of the oil spill in the Gulf. The former Arkansas governor blasted Obama for his lack of leadership and efforts in solving the continuing disaster.
The administration claimed to be on top of this since day one, but the reality is that the president didn't personally address the issue for many days until the public outcry was too loud to ignore, said Huckabee. While the president has had plenty of time in the last 50 days to play golf, host glitzy celebrity events at the White House and go on vacation, he's only managed a few self-serving photo-op stops in the Gulf.
Huckabee has been very active in Sunshine State politics -- backing GOP U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio and numerous congressional and legislative candidates. Huckabee is considered a potential candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012 and his shots at Obamas handling of the Deepwater Horizon spill will only increase the buzz.
In times of crisis, leaders lead and politicians make speeches, said Huckabee. President Obama has made a lot of speeches.
