Mike Hogan Backs Mike Weinstein in First Coast GOP Primary

Endorsements keep coming in the race to replace term-limited Sen. Steve Wise, R-Jacksonville, in representing parts of the First Coast in Tallahassee.

On Thursday, Rep. Mike Weinstein, R-Jacksonville, announced that he had won the backing of Mike Hogan, who served in the Florida House and as Duval County tax collector before losing out to Alvin Brown in the Jacksonville mayoral race in 2011.

Hogan looked to showcase Weinsteins conservative credentials in his endorsement.

Mike Weinstein's commitment to public service is deeply rooted in principles of accountability to the law, to his constituents, government transparency, low taxes, individual responsibility and restrained spending -- principles that will turn our economy around and get Floridians back to work, Hogan said on Thursday morning. I am proud to endorse Mike, a man who believes that wisdom begins and ends not in the halls of Tallahassee government, but here at home with the people of Jacksonville.

I have known Mike for years and have worked with him in many different capacities as we served our community, Weinstein said. To have the support and friendship of one of Jacksonvilles most influential community leaders is an honor and I look forward to working with him in the future.
