Mideast Violence Could Slow Fall of Gas Prices in Florida
Escalating Mideast violence could put the brakes on the falling gas prices across Florida.
AAA reports that violence could disrupt oil supplies from the Middle East and could easily offset the decrease in demand in some of the worlds largest oil-consuming nations.
"Whenever violence escalates in the Middle East, as it has with Israel and its surrounding countries, oil prices are sure to increase," Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, stated in a release
"The current conflict overseas means motorists may not see gas prices fall as much as recently forecast. Right now, tensions in the Mideast have increased concerns of oil-supply disruptions in the region which have the potential to reverse the downward trends in both oil and gas prices.
In the short term, Thanksgiving travelers shouldnt see gas prices spike before the holiday, but instead may see prices remain relatively flat.
Heading into the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, gas prices averaged $3.33 a gallon in Florida, a 3 cent reduction from a week earlier.
Nationally, gas sat at $3.42 a gallon, a 2 cent drop in the past week.
