Michelle Rhee and Joe Scarborough Crack Time 100
The 2011 edition of the Time 100, the venerable magazines listing of the most influential people in the world, seems just a tad off. The likes of Vladimir Putin and Benedict XVI are nowhere to be found, while musician Sting --who has not had a hit album in years (though I did like his stab at performing the greatest hits of Elizabethan composer John Dowland) --and comedic actress Amy Poehlerare included on the list.
There are two figures listed that observers of Florida politics may be interested in:
Education reformer Michelle Rhee, who serves as an adviser to Gov. Rick Scott, is there. Davis Guggenheim, who directed Waiting for Superman," penned an appreciative overview of Rhees contributions to education reform.
Also on the list is Joe Scarborough, the former Panhandle congressman turned talk-show host. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg wrote an essay on Scarborough, praising the former congressmans independence and direct manner.
