Michele Bachmann Skipping The Villages This Weekend; Set for Orlando and Sarasota

Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann is bowing out of one Central Florida event this Saturday, but will be at another.

Quoting a tea party source, Broward New Times reported that the Minnesota congresswoman canceled her planned appearance at The Villages retirement community.

But Sunshine State News confirmed that Bachmann will appear as scheduled at the Florida Family Policy Council awards dinner at Orlando's Rosen Shingle Creek Resort.

"She is speaking Saturday night at the Family Policy Council dinner," said Doug Sachtleben, a spokesman for Bachmann.

The Tri-County Tea Party Florida reportedly had been selling $25 tickets for Bachmann's appearance at The Villages' LaHacienda Center, but Bachmann's team cited a last-minute scheduling conflict.

As if the liberal free weekly cared about tea parties or the GOP, the New Times rapped Bachmann for also planning to skip the Republican Party's Presidency 5 straw poll on Sept. 24.

Bachmann will stick around Florida Sunday to participate in a free "grass roots rally" at Sarasota's Sahib Temple. The 4 p.m. event is sponsored by the Republican parties of Sarasota, Charlotte and Hardee counties; Taking Back Our Country (Englewood); Tea Party Manatee; Sarasota Patriots; and Venice 912.

Organizers say RSVPs are required. Click here for form.
