Michele Bachmann Mocks 'NewtRomney' as Obama Surrogate on Health Care

Michele Bachmann put Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich on the defensive Saturday at the ABC presidential debate in Iowa.

Gingrich "is the consummate insider who advocated for the individual mandate longer than Barack Obama," the Minnesota congresswoman said.

Bachmann also assailed both Gingrich and Romney for both supporting the $700 billion TARP bailout and taking squishy stands on illegal immigration.

Rick Perry joined in the fray, questioning Romney's defense of the Massachusetts health-care plan and criticizing Gingrich's early support of the individual mandate. Gingrich said the mandate was initially considered a "conservative" counterpoint to Hillary Clinton's health-care plan in the early 1990s.

After hearing rationales by Romney and Gingrich, Bachmann offered: "Do we believe these two men will get rid of Obamacare in 2012?"
