The Miami Marlins Will Host Opening Day for 2012 Baseball Season
While they are on track to finish dead last in the National League East this year, the Marlins will be on center stage on Opening Day in 2012. Of course they wont be the Florida Marlins come 2012. The Miami Marlins (having been a fan of the Fish since the days of Orestes Destrade, Charles Johnson and Jeff Conine, the new name will take some getting used to) will be hosting the St. Louis Cardinals in the new Marlins Ballpark on Wednesday, April 5.
Miami should be getting used to being the center of the baseball universe in the years to come -- and, no, I am not expecting the Boys in Teal to make a run for a third World Series championship anytime soon. The World Baseball Classic Championship game will be held in the new ballpark in 2013 and the All Star Game will be played there in 2015.
In the meantime, 29 games out and dead last in the N.L. East ...
