Miami Heat Creates Teamwork among South Florida Delegation

The Miami Heats NBA Championship victory has created some bipartisanship in Congress.

On Tuesday, U.S. Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Miami, and Alcee Hastings, D-Miramar, introduced a resolution congratulating the Heat on the 2012 title.

Adding their names as co-sponsors were Reps. Ted Deutch, D-Boca Raton; Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Miami; David Rivera, R-Miami; Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Weston; Allen B. West, R-Plantation; and Frederica S. Wilson, D-Miami Gardens.

The Heat dominated the game from the very start and its win captured the hearts of South Florida fans, Ros-Lehtinen stated in a release. This congressional resolution will express the gratitude of the Congress for the team effort of the players, coaching staff and everyone else who worked so hard to bring the NBA Championship to Miami once again. The Miami Heat has proven that through hard work, dedication and perseverance, anything can be achieved. I am also thankful that the Miami Heat organization has remained committed to giving back to the South Florida community. Congratulations once again to our hometown team, the Miami Heat!

The Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder four games to one, taking the final on June 21, by a score of 121-106.

Led by the Big Three, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh all had impressive games, Hastings stated in a release. But the championship would not have been possible without the assistance of the entire Heat team and staff, led by Coach Erik Spoelstra. I also would like to salute the Heat for being champions both on and off the court. The Heat has multiple charitable programs and events which greatly benefit the entire South Florida community. While I congratulate the members of the Heat on their championship, I also thank them for this continued dedication and involvement in our community.
