Miami-Cocoa-Orlando Passenger Rail Service Proposed
Florida East Coast Industries has announced a $1 billion project to create a Miami-to-Orlando passenger train service by 2014 called "All Aboard Florida."
The rail line would go from Miami to Cocoa along the FEC right-of-way that skirts the east coast of Florida and last supported passenger rail service in 1968, then travels west on new tracks to Orlando, a release from Florida East Coast Industries stated.
"The system will include business- and coach-class service with advance purchase reserved seating, gourmet meals, Wi-Fi, and the ability to work productively throughout the entire trip," the release stated. "In addition, stations in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Orlando mean convenient transfers to Metrorail, Metromover or SunRail, allowing passengers to reach their final destination."
