Merging Florida's Toll Collections Could Save $22 Million

Expressway toll collections should be under the umbrella of the Florida Turnpike Enterprise, according to the Government Efficiency Task Force.

According to the Florida Current, merging the collections could save up to $22 million.

The task force recommendations, according to the Florida Current, include:

-- Consolidate all toll collection activities in the state, including administration, software, collection, billing and customer service functions under the Florida Turnpike Enterprise.

-- Bring the Mid-Bay Bridge Authority into the FTE.

-- Benchmark salaries for tolling authorities to keep salaries for executives down.

-- Contract with a third party to study the best way to merge the Orlando-Orange County and Tampa-Hillsborough County expressway authorities into the FTE.
