Meek's Team Thinks Crist is Playing Politics if Ultrasound Measure is Vetoed -- But Urges the Veto Anyway

With rumors that Gov. Charlie Crist will veto the measure requiring women in the first trimester of pregnancy who are considering abortion to have an ultrasound, the campaign team of U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate election, is ripping Crist on the issue -- even though Meek is urging Crist to veto the measure.

"Gov. Crist may want to hide his conservative past, but he won't be able to escape his long record fighting against a woman's right to choose," said Adam Sharon who serves as Meeks communications director. "Both Gov. Crist and Speaker (Marco) Rubio are two anti-choice conservatives who have built their political careers around being on the wrong side of choice and privacy issues. Gov. Crist's decision will be driven by politics, not personal conviction or leadership -- but that's nothing new. Don't be fooled. Kendrick Meek is the only candidate in this race who has fought his entire career for privacy and a woman's right to choose."
