Meek Gives Ball to Magic Johnson
Apparently memos have gone out for Florida political campaigns to showcase their support from professional athletes. Moments after NFL great Jack Youngblood backed Craig Miller for Congress, U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, the leading Democratic candidate in the race for the U.S. Senate, sent out an e-mail from NBA legend Magic Johnson.
I know what it's like to lead a team to a thrilling victory. And I know what it's like to work hard to help your family get ahead, wrote Johnson. That's why no matter how often Kendrick Meek says he's one of my biggest fans, I will always say I'm a bigger fan of his.
The Meek campaign is having a raffle to give three campaign donors the chance to win basketballs signed by Johnson.
I know we're all hurting right now, and I know that getting people back to work is the best way to turn things around, wrote Johnson. Every time I've talked to Kendrick, he's telling me about how he's working to bring new jobs to Florida. That's the kind of leadership our country needs, and it's a big reason why I'm happy to give a signed basketball to three of Kendrick's top supporters.
