Meek Continues to Woo Christian Voters
U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek is taking advantage of the Congressional recess to focus on his bid to become the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate. While Meek will be focusing on jobs during this campaign swing, he is making a stop on Wednesday in Orlando to talk to the Florida Baptist Convention Political Forum.
Its an odd campaign stop for a Democrat, but Meek has gone out of his way to court religious voters during his Senate campaign. Along with the other leading candidates in the race, Meek spoke at the Christian Family Conference in February. When his campaign sponsored NASCAR driver Mike Wallace, Meek said he was especially proud to sponsor a man of faith who is dedicated to community service. Meek includes his church appearances in his Facebook and Twitter updates.
Itll be interesting to see how Meek will highlight his personal faith as his campaign continues. Between his faith and stressing his experience as a police officer, Meek looks to be running to the center.
