Meek Comments on Unemployment Numbers, Says GOP "Drove Our Economy Into the Ditch"

U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, the leading Democratic candidate in the race for the U.S. Senate but facing a tough challenge from Jeff Greene, quickly weighed in on the Agency for Workforce Innovations announcement that Floridas unemployment rate dropped from 12 percent in April to 11.7 percent in May -- and blamed the Republicans.

"Today's jobs numbers are a sharp reminder that too many Floridians are still struggling to find work, said Meek. Although we're turning the corner from recession to recovery, it is clear that much more work needs to be done. One thing is certain: We cannot afford to return to same old, tired Republican policies of the past that drove our economy into the ditch in the first place. The days of defending Big Oil, the Big Banks, insurance companies, and credit card companies are over."
