Medical Marijuana Ballot-Express United for Care Steers 100,000 Petitions to Elections Offices

Ben Pollara, campaign manager for medical marijuana ballot-express United for Care, reports his team has today officially shipped 100,000 petitions to Florida supervisors of elections offices -- "which should put us past the threshold required for Supreme Court review."

Pollara reiterated that this represents "a massive head start" over the 2013 campaign, which got a late start. "If we can sustain this pace, we should ensure our place on the ballot before the holidays," he said.

Pollara attributes the early accomplishment to his dedicated volunteers and "generous donors large and small helping to fund our efforts."  He said he nevertheless still needs to collect more than half a million petitions.

The supervisor of elections has 30 days to verify that a petition is valid. Following verification, the Supreme Court will schedule a review. "We expect to have our review date by mid-August," Pollara said.
