McCollum Releases Roadmap

Late Friday afternoon, Attorney General Bill McCollum released details of his plans for education. "Real Solutions. New Jobs: A Roadmap for Floridas Future" is the official title -- an important part of his economic and job creation agenda, he claims.

McCollum would try to raise student achievement with a variety of tactics, including these:

• Base policy decisions on measurable, quantitative results to judge progress.
• Expect high standards Floridas students deserve to achieve a years worth of learning to progress each and every year.
• Reward improvement and achievement, for students, teachers and schools alike.
• Empower students and parents through choice, and create more competition in funding for both schools and scholarships.
• Said McCollum, "Education cannot be separated from Floridas economy, and under my leadership, we will institute the reforms necessary to produce better lives for our children and our state while boosting our work forces economic viability."
