May Job Numbers To Be Released Friday
Florida's job numbers for May are slated to be released Friday, according to a recent tweet sent by Gov. Rick Scott. The report will be released at 10 a.m.
In April, the Sunshine State added 16,700 private-sector jobs, bringing the state's unemployment rate to 7.3 percent. April's unemployment rate reflected a decrease of 0.3 percent from March.
Florida boasts a lower unemployment rate than the national average of 7.6 percent, andunemployment has been on a steady decline over the past three years. In December 2010, Florida's unemployment rate stood at a staggering 11.1 percent.
"Floridas families are getting back to work and our states economy is growing. With 16,700 new private-sector jobs added last month and an unemployment rate that continues to decline, Florida is once again below the national average at 7.2 percent," said Gov. Scott in May."It is clear that our policies to create jobs for Florida families and attract new and expanding businesses to Florida is working."
