Space Florida has signed an agreement for Masten Space Systems to perform demonstration flights of a vertical takeoff-vertical landing vehicle at Cape Canaveral.
Under the $400,000 contract, Masten will conduct multiple flights from Complex 36 of the Air Force station. The operations will assist Space Florida in developing operational requirements for VTVL vehicles.
These demonstration launches represent the first reusable suborbital launch vehicle ever to fly from Cape Canaveral," said Space Florida President Frank DiBello.
The upcoming flights will also enable Masten to fully evaluate Florida as a base for its flight operations group, said David Masten, president of the Mojave, Calif.-based company.
