Mary Thomas: Obama's Action on Guns Violates Constitution

Tallahassee attorney Mary Thomas, now running for the Republican nomination to challenge U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham, D-Fla., in November, weighed in on Tuesday in opposition to President Barack Obama’s executive action implementing more gun control measures. 

"President Obama's unconstitutional executive action today infringes on our rights, subverts the will of our elected representatives and is yet another abuse of executive power that the president has gotten away with for far too long,” Thomas, a member of the National Rifle Association, said. “It is the duty of Congress to fight for and defend citizens' rights and liberties and I urge them to take swift action in response." 

Thomas faces Dr. Neal Dunn in the Republican primary. Republicans have the edge in registrations in this North Florida district after the Florida Supreme Court accepted a map from the League of Women Voters after the latest redistricting challenge.
