Marlins Suspend Ozzie Guillen Five Games for Castro Comments
In response to his praise of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, the Miami Marlins announced on Tuesday that manager Ozzie Guillen would be suspended for five games starting with Wednesday night's game in Philadelphia.
The Marlins acknowledge the seriousness of the comments attributed to Guillen, the baseball team announced in a statement released on Tuesday. The pain and suffering caused by Fidel Castro cannot be minimized, especially in a community filled with victims of the dictatorship.
Guillen will miss two games this week in Philadelphia. He will also miss this weekends three-game home series against the Houston Astros. Guillen is scheduled to return to the dugout next Tuesday when the Chicago Cubs visit the Marlins.
