Marco Rubio's Team Hammers Obama and Crist on Stimulus Again
Marking the 18-month anniversary of President Barack Obama signing the federal stimulus package into law, Marco Rubios campaign team continued to pound Gov. Charlie Crist, a rival in the U.S. Senate election, for backing the measure in the first place.
Eighteen months later, it remains clear the stimulus President Obama and Charlie Crist enthusiastically backed has failed to live up to their promises, said Alex Burgos, a spokesman for Rubio. Both of them put their faith in Washington instead of job creators across our country and, as a result, more Floridians are looking for work than when the stimulus was signed.
Burgos contrasted Crist to Rubio, who is the heavy favorite to win the Republican nomination next week.
Unlike Charlie Crist, Marco Rubio has a pro-jobs alternative to the anti-growth policies that are coming out of Washington, said Burgos. Instead of placing his bet on Washington, Marco is trusting entrepreneurs and businesses to do what they do best -- create jobs.
The Rubio team continues to mark 18-month anniversaries of aspects of the stimulus -- when Crist backed it, when it passed Congress, and now when Obama signed it into law. They clearly think that their candidates opposition to the stimulus is going to be a major advantage come November over Crist and whoever emerges in the Democratic primary.
